Pro Bono Work & Free Legal Services
In 2013 we also handled several pro bono cases for people who couldn't afford legal services. We currently have at least one pro bono case in process at all times. Henderson Law Offices proudly completed over 100 hours of community service throughout 2013.
We continue our support of the Thursday Night at the Bar Program. Every second Thursday of each month members of the local bar association donate time to meet with people free of charge and give them direction on their legal problems.
The clinic meets in the old county courthouse 199 North Main, board of supervisors chambers, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The current attorney who is over this program is Christian Hansen; please contact his office at 435-752-2610 for more information.
We now exclusively take pro bono (free) cases through the Utah State Bar Access to Justice Program. This program allows people to call in and get their case screened by Utah Legal Services and then Utah Legal Services and/or the Utah State Bar Access to Justice Program will post notices to participating attorneys about your case. An attorney will volunteer and you will have pro bono legal help. This, of course, is for non-criminal cases as the state pays for attorneys on serious criminal cases where the defendant can't afford an attorney. Also, only those who are at 125% of the federal poverty level of income qualify.
By using the Access to Justice program, you need for legal services will be more quickly fulfilled because you won't be waiting on our list of potential pro bono clients until we can finish our current pro bono case.
