Attorneys and financial peace

The word “professional” has ancient roots in religion. One who “professed” a belief or a creed. The word was adopted to secular work in the context of professing a particular type of work. Attorneys take an oath when admitted to the “bar.” A bar is a group of attorneys that have a common geographic connection or practice area. I remember where I was on 11 September 2001. I was driving to my job as a research attorney for the First District Court, when I heard on the radio that the first of the two towers had been struck by a jet. By the time I made it to the office, the bailiffs had pulled a TV out in the lobby so that people could watch it.
